Accompanied with Mr. Kang Rixin, the president of CNNC, the vice Minister of the State Development and Reform Commission, Mr. Zhang Guobao inspected the Qinshan NPP Base on Sept. 20.

Mr. Zhang went up to Fangjiashan--reserve site of Qinshan NPP Extension Project, particularly heard the report made by general manager He Xiaojian of Qinshan NPP, and looked into the matters about selected unit type of the Extension Project, preliminary design, earth breaking, emigrating from site, etc. Mr. Zhang went to Qinshan NPP Phase II, heard the report of operation conditions of unit 1 and 2, prophase work progress of unit 3 and 4. Then Mr. Zhang went to Shanghai Nuclear Engineering Institute to hear the report on general condition of CNP1000 preliminary design. He particularly found out design features, technology orientation, main ameliorations of CNP1000.

Mr. Zhang Guobao pointed out that through many years’ practices it was proved that the nuclear power is a clean, safe energy source. Recently the opinion of “actively developing nuclear power” has become common understanding from the State Council to all levels of central government ministry in charge and local government, and it could be said that now there is no resistance to actively develop nuclear power in China. The CNNC should take hold of this good opportunity, actively innovate, continuously promote localization in nuclear power construction.
