At 00:48 of Oct. 27, the first fuel loading on Unit 1 of Tianwan NPP was completed satisfactorily. The 163 nuclear fuel assemblies were put into the reactor core successfully, and set on their position safely and accurately. The inspections on height of fuel assembly’s up-header, correctness of loading and foreign matters in core were conducted. This means that the Tianwan NPP has formally has entered the state with full nuclear fuel in core for operation.

According to “the ratification for the first fuel loading on Unit 1 of Tianwan NPP” issued by the National Nuclear Safety Administration on Oct. 17, the first fuel loading of Unit 1 of Tianwan NPP was started on Oct. 18. On Oct. 23, an awarding ceremony of the first fuel loading license was held at Tianwan NPP, and the director Wang Yuqing of NNSA awarded the license to the general-manager Chang Nan of Jiangsu Nuclear Power Co., Ltd.
