At Nanchang, Jiangxi Province, the CNNC held a work meeting on constructing CNNC’s uranium production base from Oct. 30 to Nov. 1. Totally 70 experts from CNNC headquarters, relevant organizations related the fields of uranium geology, mining and milling attended this meeting to discuss how increasing the natural uranium production capacity and constructing large-scale uranium mining base.

On this meeting, the CNNC’s president Kang Rixin made a speech and pointed out that following active development of nuclear power in our country, the demand for natural uranium will grow quickly, and this is a good opportunity for development of uranium exploration and mining. According to the plan of nuclear power capacity achieving 40000MW by 2020, the demand of natural uranium will achieve 10000 tons per year at the appointed time. So that natural uranium industry must have a development on a large scale. By carrying out the strategic policy of “two resources, two markets”, the CNNC has raised a development strategy of constructing large-scale base of uranium exploration and mining.
