At Pakistani local time 12:55 of Dec. 28, with the first concrete was poured into the basement of nuclear island building, the Chashma NPP Phase II Project (C-2) commenced formally. Pakistani Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz was present at the ceremony and poured the first concrete by pushing down button. Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission president Parvez Butt, China Atomic Energy Authority chairman Sun Qin and CNNC’s president Kang Rixin also attended the concrete pouring ceremony.

The main contract for constructing the C-2 project was signed on May 4, 2004 between the China National Nuclear Corporation and Pakistan Atomic Energy Committee. The C-2 project is a turn-key project to build a 300MWe PWR nuclear power unit. As the overall contractor, the China Zhongyuan Engineering Company of the CNNC will take full responsibility for this project.
