It is reported that in 2005, there were 9 nuclear power units in commercial operation in China, and all of these units had got good performances, the total gross electricity generation was 53.082 TWh and the accumulated electricity output to the grid was 50.329 TWh, comparing with the same period of last year increased 5.18% and 5.29% respectively. Among them, the Qinshan Phase I 310MW unitĄ¯s annual electricity generation reached 2.349 TWh and the annual capability factor was 87.02%; for Qinshan Phase II 2x650MW units total electricity generation of 10.133 TWh and annual average capability factor of 86.70%; for Qinshan Phase III 2x728MW units total electricity generation of 10.124 TWh and annual average capability factor of 80.98%; for Guangdong Daya Bay 2x984MW units total electricity generation of 15.450 TWh and annual average capability factor of 89.96%; for LingĄ¯ao 2x990MW units total electricity generation of 15.027 TWh and annual average capability factor of 87.16%.
In 2005, there were 23 operation events reported by all operating units, in which 20 level-0 events and 3 level-1 incidents according to the International Nuclear Event Scale. The personnel exposure dose and the discharge of radioactive effluents for each operating NPP were far lower than the limits set by the national standards. The environmental monitoring results showed that the nuclear power plantĄ¯s operation is no any negative effect on the circumstances.
