The vice president Zeng Qinghong of People's Republic of China inspected the Qinshan nuclear power base on Apr. 4, 2006. Mr. Zeng fully affirmed the achievement gained by Qinshan nuclear power base, while he pointed out “these achievements got by Qinshan Phase I and II were based on self-innovation”.

The Vice Presiden Zeng's group was accompanied by the general-manager Kang Rixin of the CNNC to visit the exhibition hall of Qinshan nuclear power plant, the main control room of Qinshan Phase II NPP, and heard the report about progress status of Qinshan, Tianwan and Sanmen nuclear power projects. Standing in front of the building of Qinshan Phase II, Mr. Zeng Qinghong said that at present nuclear power generation has accounted for small ratio in our country, but the State Council has confirmed the policy to develop nuclear power actively and increase the ratio of nuclear power. This is necessary either for mitigating energy shortage or for security of energy supply. To develop nuclear power should carry through re-innovation on the basis of introducing and learning international advanced technology and management by Sino-foreign cooperation, but must rely on independent innovation.
