CNNC to build Nuclear Plant in Hainan
  2008-08-01

    On July 18, The National Developmental and Reform Commission(NDRC)approved initial stage of work on the Changjiang nuclear project.

    The plant in Changjiang county, west Hainan, will consist of two pressurized water reactors, each with a capacity of 650 megawatts. More than 70 percent of the plant's equipment will be manufactured in China.

    In 1994,the CNNC started work to choose site for new NPP ,then they completed site report of Changjiang nuclear project in the same year.In 2007, NDRC has announced that developing nuclear power was the best choice to solve power shortage of Hainan.(Gao Lei)
