On Agu 22, 2008, the excavation of the foundations pit in Sanmen project successfully passed the check from the expert team of the National Nuclear Safety Bureau (NNSB). That is the first control-point which is released by NNSB. It also means that No. 1 unit of Sanmen project has satisfied the requirement of building the nuclear island.

    The team listened to the reports, and dialogued with some relevant departments. The team thought that the excavation of the foundations pit in Sanmen project progressed well, accorded with the norm requirement, and the situation of the foundations accorded with the detailed survey report. All the experts agreed to release the safety control-point. Passing the check means that AP1000 goes forward a big step.
