On Sept 3, 2008, Mr. Kang Rixin, Secretary of the Party’s Leading Group and President of CNNC, met with Mr. Zhang Dawei, Vice Governor of Henan Province. They talked about how to propel the construction of nuclear power in Henan. Mr. Wang Sen, Member of the Party’s Leading Group and Chairman of the Discipline Inspection Group of CNNC attended the meeting.

    Mr. Kang Rixin introduced the history and current situation of CNNC. Under the support of relevant departments of Henan Provincial Government, CNNC has already carried out the positive and effective work, he said. Now, CNNC has many talents. If the situation is suitable, CNNC can begin the construction of NPP. CNNC would like to push the development of nuclear power with Henan Province.

    Mr. Zhang Dawei said that Henan Province developed fast recently. The supply of the electricity did not fit the speed of economical development. In recent electricity structure, thermal power has a big portion. It gives a heavy pressure on environmental capacity and transport capability. Nuclear power is a clean energy. It is one of settlements which can deal with the questions of environment, transport and electricity supply. Henan Provincial Government will provide a good environment for CNNC to construct the NPP in Henan.

    Mr. Zhang Xuzong, Director of the General Administrative Office of CNNC, Mr. Li Jinying, Director of Department of Planning of CNNC, Mr. Qian Tianlin, Vice Director of Department of Planning of CNNC, Mr. Liu Jing, Vice Director of Department of Nuclear Power, attended the meeting.
